La Cantera Via Ferrata
In the Spanish village of “Vilavella” (province of Castellón), you’ll find the La Cantera Via Ferrata. This is a well-maintained vertical Via Ferrata with plenty of staples and a few obstacles such as two bridges. This isn’t a difficult Via Ferrata as long as you’re comfortable with heights. While walking on the wooden steps bridge, it’s almost unavoidable to look down between the steps as you place your feet!Route Information and Specifications

How to Get There
Navigate to the designated parking lot in the village of “Vilavella”, most likely you will enter Vilavella from the A7 or CV-10. Once there, you can park between the playground and the football field. Parking is available along the road and is free of charge.Starting Point
Once you arrive at the Camp de Futbol, you’ll notice there is a large fence surrounding it. You’ll need to enter here as the starting point of the route is within the sports park area. Once through the gate, you’ll find toilets available, and you’ll need to walk past the canteen and the football field towards the back, where you’ll eventually find the information board for this Via Ferrata La Cantera.Handy to Know
There are plenty of steps available, so searching for footholds on the rock is not necessary. With an abundance of staples, it’s essentially an easy climb, including fun bridge obstacles.
The difficulty lies more in the fact that you’re ascending in height. The top is at about 100m high, and at the step bridge, placing your foot forces you to look down through the steps.
This adds extra tension if you’re not particularly fond of heights (like me).
Sport Park Opening Hours
Take into account the opening hours of the sports park as you need to enter through the gate there. When we were here, the gate was simply open. If the gate isn’t open, you can call the local police at “625101002”. This information is usually provided on most sites with information about this route.Video
