La Piqueta Via Ferrata
An enjoyable short climbing route in Espadilla that you can start almost immediately after parking. The information board “La Piqueta Via Ferrata” is also located right at the start. This route is ideal if you’re nearby and don’t have time for a longer climb. The route primarily ascends and is not overhanging. It can be somewhat challenging because the rungs are sometimes spaced far apart, requiring you to improvise at certain points on how to take the next step. The final section includes a small portion where you climb directly on the rocks. If you’re not a fan of heights, this part might feel more intimidating than a K2.Route Information and Specifications

Parking
From the main road CV-20, you will arrive in “Espadilla” where you can then drive into the village via the road “c. montico la torre”. Shortly after, you will reach a T-junction where you can park along the side of the road. Parking lines are marked on the ground here. The information board is a short distance further up.Starting Point
I have indicated the starting point above with coordinates. Look for the rocks shown in the image above or the information board. You need to head towards the two mountains, one of which is yellow. You can enter the rocky ravine via the information board. Follow this path back to the beginning of the starting point. You can put on your climbing set in advance as it is not a long walk.Handy to Know
Level
The route is marked as K2, which would typically imply a straight climb up. However, this is not the case. You go up and a few times from left to right, encountering points where you need to search for where to place your hands and feet.
Because this is an easy route, I would still advise beginner climbers to choose a different type of route.
One with more walking and viewing opportunities rather than one that requires some technique right away.
Camper Site
The CV-20 runs through Espadilla, and there are two options for parking a camper, one of which also allows you to set up a tent in a slightly secluded area. Onda has a camper site on the edge of the town (Onda, 30 Calle Fanzara), which is solely a camper site. Additionally, there is a very neat camper site on the edge of the forest in the village of “Cirat”. This site is also located on the same road, CV-20, and can be found at the end of the street “C. Rosaire, 79, 12231 Cirat, Castellón”.
